The Farlow, named after a classmate, is a drum groove written for snare, quints, 4-line bass, and cymbals.
This drum line piece was composed when Kernighan turned seventeen, hence the title. It is written for snare, quints, 4-line bass, and cymbals.
Soaring Eagles, Kernighan's first fight song, is written for a full marching band.
